5 Interior Décor Trends To Include In Your Home | 2021

"There are two things that make a room timeless: a sense of history and a piece of the future." CHARLOTTE MOSS

I love updating my home. The current design state of my home at any given point, reflects my mood and how I can replicate design trends every season.

As I am currently in the process of trying to spruce up my living room space, I got inspired to write this post for those of us looking for inspiration.

1. Plants: Indoor plants have a way of bringing a flat space to life. A fiddle leaf tree, snake plant, succulent plants or even a simple flower arrangement can make a huge difference in making a living room go from 0-100. Bare in mind that most indoor plants require a lot of filtered sunlight, so If you need something low maintenance be sure to check with your plant source

2. Bold Colours: I'm all about my neutrals and cool tones, but the way bold tones have been appealing to me these days is on another level. The best way to incorporate bold colors into your living space is mostly by creating a feature wall - A dark blue feature wall will complement white accent walls in your bedroom. If you are not comfortable with dark wall colors, try having bold accent pieces - yellow & purple throw pillows on a cream couch.

Always go easy with bold colors as they have the tendency of making living spaces look smaller if used wrongly.

3. Feature Wall: There are several ways to achieve a feature wall in any type of space. Wall Colors are the most common style, using picture frames to create a pattern, paintings, wall paper or wall treatments such as panelling or 3D designs.

A feature wall is an automatic focal point, thereby creating the illusion of more space in most especially small rooms.

4. Lighting: When it comes to light fixtures, there are numerous options which could make it all confusing. For simplicity, squarish spaces require drop down type of lighting such as chandeliers while rectangular spaces can make use of track lights, pot lights, wall sconces etc.

An updated light fixture creates an illusion of luxury in any living space. Standing lamps and night stand lamps add so much character to any living space as well. DIY lighting around your bathroom mirror will give you hotel vibes (I may just try this out myself).

5. Mirrors: If you don't have mirrors in your space, it's time to get one. I'm talking about floor length mirrors for those "selfies" right before you go out, circular mirrors for right above your dresser or even decorative mirrors right above your console table. There are so many options when it comes to decorating your space with mirrors, as always Pinterest is a great source.

Be careful to not overdo it though, so you don't have a living room looking like a magician's space (except that's what you are going for :) )

Interior Décor trends change every season so It's always great to be in the loop so your home style remains relevant.

As I update my space I'll carry you along. You could also follow me on Pinterest for more inspiration. xoxo
